2018
Who are we at Hamphi?
In the summer of 2018, one of our founders, Philip, discovered the need for a clothes hook in their Tesla Model S, as the older Teslas lacked a hook to hang a jacket or coat. For those with pets, dog and cat hair is known to get everywhere, and putting a clean jacket on a seat full of animal hair is not an option.
Philip then set about designing a coat hook that could be hung on the headrest of the Model S and Model X. At the time, the headrests were adjustable, allowing a small plastic hook to be attached to the space in the headrest. After several iterations, the design was finalized and the first hooks were made.
Philip then distributed these hooks to various people in the Tesla community, including Hamid, the Vice President of the Tesla Club in Sweden. Hamid immediately wanted to buy a larger quantity of hooks to sell to his customers who drove Tesla.
The hooks were a success at eCarExpo 2018 and after a few weeks, 4 3D printers were needed to meet the demand. What both Hamid and Philip didn't know at the time was that this would be the start of Hamphi.com. Over the next six months, the foundations of our e-commerce were laid with the development of more 3D printed products, while the first stickers began to be designed.
When the product range was to be broadened, many prototypes began to be 3D printed first, such as mudguards and iPad holders. It was here that Philip learned the limits of 3D printing and realized they needed to start using their own molds to create the next collection of products for the website.
2019
Hamphi.com Launches
Hamphi was founded in the spring of 2019, the first products were designed and the website was launched in late May/June 2019. We had spent all the time designing the website and the first 10 products.When the first orders came in on the first day, we had no shipping solutions ready, which quickly created problems as the orders continued to come in daily.
2020
Launch of Hamphi Mounts
The year began with a fantastic trade fair at the beginning of February, eCarExpo at Friends Arena in Stockholm. The pandemic struck with full force and the restrictions meant that we were not able to do everything we wanted. Instead, it was about continuing to develop the company and e-commerce.At the same time, we introduce assemblies of the products on the website. "Hamphi assembles" quickly becomes a popular option on larger products such as light ramps and sound insulation. We also set the goal of developing the website and going from 500 to 1000 articles before the end of the year.
In 2020, we also became a certified dealer and installer for Unplugged Performance in Sweden, which was a very big step. Read more about Unplugged Performance here.
2021
Before / After
As the number of articles grew on the website, our old premises became far too small and we moved to new premises in Borås in the summer of 2021. It became our first real large warehouse. Now we also set the goal of doubling the number of unique items to a full 2000 to fill the expanded warehouse space. In the autumn, the Tesla Model Y was launched. As Hamphi expanded, the existing order and warehouse system could not cope with the volumes. A new ERP system combined with a new website was around the corner.
Tesla Corsa
Together with Unplugged Performance, we also participated with 5 cars at TeslaCorsa at Salzburgring in Austria. A great opportunity to try out what it is like to drive on the track and how different modifications affect the car's handling and performance.
eCarExpo
At the end of the year, we also had the opportunity to meet our customers again at eCarExpo at the Swedish Exhibition Centre in Gothenburg, which was really fun!
2022
Hamphi 2.0 & Service Partners
In early 2022, the world situation was still turbulent. New restrictions cancelled eCarExpo in Stockholm, which was instead postponed until late spring 2022. Instead, much of early 2022 has revolved around the launch of Hamphi 2.0, which included a completely new website, but associated business system. This creates the opportunity for us to expand to new markets outside Sweden while also introducing "Hamphi service partners". To handle the large volume of orders, we planned to move to new larger premises in the summer.
New warehouse
During the summer when many people spent time on the beach with an ice cream in hand, we moved our warehouse to new premises. Today we are located on the outskirts of Borås in Viared. In addition to warehouses with offices, we have a store, where customers can come and see our products physically.
Tesla Corsa
The autumn starts with Tesla Corsa in Salzburg with the gang from Unplugged Performance! In total we were 4 cars this time after the drivers of 3 other cars became ill before departure. With a lighter car, bigger brakes and sports tyres we managed to cut the time by 15 seconds compared to the year before and this with an extra passenger in the car. A clear example of what a little upgrade makes a big difference when driving on a track.
During the journey home from Salzburgring, we also took the opportunity to visit Tesla's new factory outside Berlin, which is a must for all car enthusiasts!
eCarExpo
eCarExpo Göteborg 2022 was the fifth time we exhibited at the electric car fair. Very nice to be able to meet both industry colleagues and customers as well as suppliers at the fair again after all the cancelled events during the Covid time. We are very pleased with eCarExpo 2022!
2023
New warehouse
During June and July, our warehouse expanded into the premises next door, providing twice the storage space than before. We have met the market's demand and the range is growing and consists of over 50,000 items, both for Teslas but also for other electric cars.
In connection with the company expanding, the team behind Hamphi has also done so and in 2023 we welcomed Markus and Tilda. Markus is responsible for developing our e-commerce features on the website and is the engine behind new features and Tilda is Hamphi's marketing manager.
Hamphi 3.0
In September, we finally launched Hamphi 3.0 with a new website design from scratch. At the same time, we opened the doors to our first real store in connection with our warehouse in Borås. There it is possible to squeeze and feel on site before picking up an order.
2024
Hamphi expands abroad
In early 2024, Hamphi has worked to expand into neighboring countries and the website is now translated into 5 different languages. In addition, shipping prices and shipping times within the EU have been improved so that customers from many countries can have an even better shopping experience.
2024 has also continued with major investments in making our own content in the form of images and films, to showcase the range and build community.
In August, we welcome our new colleague Elin to the team. With reinforcement in the team, we can work even more efficiently and deliver an even better customer experience. Stay tuned for exciting news in the future!
